Liverpool Associates in Tropical Health (LATH) is the dedicated technical assistance company of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, providing quality programme management, consultancy and training in international health. LATH provides technical assistance through its in-house specialists, LSTM clinical and technical staff and a database of proven consultants.

We work in partnership with our clients to facilitate solutions through:

  • Ensuring sustainable and integrated capacity development
  • Using evidence-based policies and strategies
  • Addressing problems within a health systems context
  • Working within a pro-poor and gender equity framework.

We can offer extensive clinical and technical expertise across a wide range of disciplines; in particular our key focus areas are health systems; HIV/AIDS; monitoring & evaluation including LQAS; human resources for health; maternal and neonatal health; and laboratory systems.
LSTM was part of the five year research programme Addressing the Balance of Burden in HIV/AIDS and ran the DFID HIV/AIDS & STI Knowledge Programme. LATH delivered a seven-year DFID HIV Management Programme in Nigeria, supporting eight diverse stakeholder organisations to cope with the HIV/AIDS epidemic by improving service quality. LATH has developed capacity across in HIV/AIDS prevention and care including education and awareness, improving TB control, baseline studies on prevalence and treatment seeking behaviours.
